In Theresa's memoir, The Art of Looking Back: A Painter, an Obsession, and Reclaiming the Gaze, she writes about the time an older, male artist became obsessed with her when she was 23 years old. He drew and painted her for a few months, after which she went away for a year. When she returned, she was determined not to resume the relationship. She was young, she was flattered, and the situation had quickly overwhelmed her. "The Art of Looking Back" is a meditation on the male gaze, on reclaiming one's younger self, and on agency: how we lose it, how we find it again. This poetic memoir asks questions about older men and younger women and girls, and the persistence of that dynamic in art.

Keiko Honda's memoir, Hidden Flowers, takes us on her journey through motherhood, loss, disability, and the transformative power of artistic self-expression exemplified by the Japanese concept of "Hidden Flowers," which emphasizes the beauty of unexpected moments.  Illustrated throughout with Keiko’s watercolour paintings, ranging from moody landscapes to family and pet portraits to semi-abstract scenes of modern life, this memoir is an inspiring journey that will bolster the spirits of anyone who is experiencing a difficult transition in life or looking for a creative outlet.
