If your business is located within the boundary, you are automatically a member of the Downtown Victoria Business Association (DVBA). The DVBA team is here to support you! From our Clean Team, to advocacy, events, and marketing, we are here to promote the vibrancy and vitality of the downtown businesses community.

BUILDING A STRONGER COMMUNITY

Downtown Business Buzz Newsletter

Email becca@downtownvictoria.ca to be added to the Business Buzz e-mail newsletter. We understand business owners are busy and respect your time, we will not spam your inbox unnecessarily. This newsletter is sent to all downtown business owners only when there is pertinent information for downtown businesses, such as DVBA events or marketing opportunities.

Networking

The DVBA hosts Meet & Greet events every other month. These events provide opportunities to discuss challenges, share ideas, and meet other engaged members of the downtown business community. You must subscribe to the Business Buzz Newsletter (email becca@downtownvictoria.ca) to receive event invitations.

Clean Team

The DVBA Clean Team operates weekdays from 8AM to 4PM. If you have garbage, drug paraphernalia, tags, or otherwise need help with your storefront, call 250-386-2238. Find out more about the Clean Team here.

Advocacy

A central goal of the DVBA is to advocate on behalf of businesses to all levels of government. If you have a challenge you face as a downtown business owner/operator, email jeff@downtownvictoria.ca.

MARKETING AND EVENTS

Social Media

If you would like your business to be featured on the Downtown Victoria Facebook and/or Instagram pages, email becca@downtownvictoria.ca. Make sure to tag @downtownvictoriabc on Instagram when you post downtown content/events for more opportunities to be featured.

Events Page and What’s Up Downtown? Events Newsletter

Hosting an event downtown? Submit it to our online events calendar! This is the most popular part of our website and we use events on this page to curate our twice-monthly What’s Up Downtown? Newsletter.

Event Support

Looking for more support in creating/hosting a downtown event? Email john@downtownvictoria.ca.

FREE MONEY!

Downtown Victoria Gift Cards

Any downtown business can register to be part of the Downtown Victoria Gift Card program. Registration is free and takes only two minutes. Once registered, businesses can receive a $100 gift card to run a giveaway. Over the holidays, the DVBA sold/gave away $50,000 in Gift Cards, and cards continue to be sold through the year. That is free money for registered businesses whose customers choose to use the Downtown Victoria Gift Cards at their location. To find out more and register, email becca@downtownvictoria.ca.

Grants

A number of grants are available to downtown businesses. The DVBA offers a Gull Grant, cost-sharing for seagull deterrents, an Illumination Grant, cost-sharing for lighting the exterior of your business, and a Façade Grant, cost-sharing to otherwise improve the exterior of your business.

The DVBA no longer offers the Vandalism and Security Grants. Similar grant programs are available for all businesses through the BC Chamber of Commerce, called the Securing Small Businesses Rebate. Click here to find out more and apply for the Chamber’s Securing Small Businesses Rebate.

LET’S CONNECT

DVBA Membership Coordinator, Madison, will gladly visit you at your business at your convenience, or give you a call to answer any questions. Simple send her a note at madison@downtownvictoria.ca with your preferred method of contact and what date/time works for you.
