*The DVBA hired both John and Madison through the assistance of a City of Victoria Strategic Plan Grant, and we would like to gratefully acknowledge their help. The purpose of the grant is to build a more connected, healthier, and more welcoming downtown community, and over the course of Madison’s and John’s first year, they have done excellent work building connections between different downtown businesses and between businesses and downtown residents. They have initiated events designed to introduce residents to the businesses in their neighbourhoods, and events to connect business owners and managers to their neighbours. Without the City’s initial grant, the DVBA might not have taken the first step and to hire these two valuable individuals.
