The Mahon Building

The Mahon Building, located at 1110–1112 Government Street in Victoria, British Columbia, is a historic two-storey brick structure built in 1907 by architect William Ridgway Wilson for Edward Mahon, a partner in the Vancouver investment firm Mahon, McFarland & Mahon.

Originally constructed on the site of the fire-damaged Sehl Block, the Mahon Building was designed with Edwardian Classical Revival elements and clad in glazed brick. It occupies the full width of the block between Government and Langley Streets. The building has housed various businesses over the years, including Spencer’s Department Store, known for its specialized camping gear, tools, and clothing.
