Everyone has an inner child. It’s the part of ourselves that allows us to play and have fun, that makes us chuckle at silly jokes, and that remembers the joy of playing with toys. Browsing the shelves of a toy store brings back memories of those times past and reminds us to nurture our children’s love of play.
With the holiday season approaching, it is important to remember to shop local. We have many wonderful toy stores in our downtown core. Here are some of the stores to check when shopping for kids of every age:
Kaboodles Victoria

Established in 1990, Kaboodles Toy Store is a locally owned independent toy store. Located on Government Street, they are the place to go for toys that are unique, of good quality, and of high play value. They have a wide variety of stock, including arts and crafts, Lego, Playmobil, and stuffed animals. This “store for kids and silly adults” should not be missed!

Cherry Bomb Toys

Cherry Bomb Toys is a mom and pop operation, which buys and sells toys from local sources. You never know what you will discover whether you are a serious collector or someone looking for something fun. From Star Wars to Power Rangers to Funko Pops, they have something for everything. After 16 years in business, their motto remains “Toys with Memories Included”.

Oscar & Libby’s

Oscar & Libby’s is a store for those who want to find something upbeat and offbeat. Named for the owners’ two kitties, they opened their Fort Street location in 2005 and then, three years later, opened a second store in Market Square. They have two stores full of zany gift ideas, stuffies, cards, books, and much more. This is a store with big personality and is a must-visit destination when shopping for toys and beyond!

Whether you are a child or a kid at heart, downtown Victoria is the place to be. All of these stores are open for limited browsing and have online shops if you prefer to shop from home. They are all passionate about toys and they are not the only downtown stores with toy sections to peruse. Because of the pandemic, they need our help and support, so check them out for all your holiday toy-shopping needs!
