“The business and hospitality community in Victoria has been super supportive and it’s their journeys and successes that inspire me to keep going.”

Matt Oliver is the owner and head guide for Victoria Bike Tours. Tucked away in lower Market Square, Matt begins and ends his tours surrounded by historic Victorian landmarks.  The history of the province and Victoria itself was one of the main draws for Matt when initially moving to the city. That, and Victoria’s status as a foodie capital of Canada, makes downtown an excellent fit. Victoria has a thriving cyclist culture and the bike lanes throughout downtown make it easier to safely explore the city. Through his small business, Matt has combined his love of working with people and telling stories with history, food, and cycling.

As a small business owner breaking into a thriving tourist economy, Matt relies on the business community for support. He shares his shop space with another cycling tour company, North 48 Bikes owned by David Ley, which gives both small business owners a sense of security.
