What motivated you to start a veterinary clinic?
I have been living downtown since relocating to Victoria from Romania. Shortly after moving, I learned that there was a need for veterinary services in the downtown core, and eight years ago, we opened our doors to the pet-owning population. We are a full-service clinic, we have a lab, x-ray, surgery, dental, and ultrasound, and are the only veterinary facility located downtown.
What has been your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration comes from my patients. From the cats and the dogs that need help.
We treat our patients the way that I would treat my own pets.
What is the most rewarding part of working in a veterinary clinic?
The most rewarding part of our work is that we are given the opportunity to help our patients and the appreciation we get from the owners. The other day we received an email with the following text “Thanks for the wonderful care you have provided for Sparky and our family. It is evident that you genuinely care about the pets you see.” It made our day, and we thank everybody for trusting us with their pet’s medical needs.
What are the main challenges you have faced?
We were lucky not to face significant challenges along the way.
The small bumps we came across were and are part of owning a business. We are grateful to have a fantastic team.
Why did you choose this location? What do you like about it?
We chose this location because there was a need for our services in the area and because I can walk or bike to work. Not being dependent on the car makes me feel more connected with the city.
What are your favourite places downtown?
It is hard to choose one place as I like to explore and try new culinary or shopping experiences. In Victoria, we are blessed with a multitude of choices, and you cannot go wrong regardless of where you walk in. If I needed to choose some places they would be Fol Epi, La Tana, Agrius, Public Market and the Movie Theaters. I’m a city guy. I like to walk, I like to bike, I like to go to the coffee shop. Those things are quite important for me, so I enjoy living downtown.
