Downtown Victoria Scores!
Since 2013, the DVBA has been tracking pedestrian traffic. Our business association was the first in British Columbia and the second in Canada to install digital pedestrian counters. Every time a “warm body” walks by the counters, thermal cameras track them. This heat-activated technology runs 24/7, providing true walking traffic data for strategic downtown locations.
This information can inform potential business locations, promotion timing, marketing, plus it’s interesting. To access this real-time and also historical data, click on the red markers on the map.
All data is collected with Eco-Counter.

Downtown Victoria is a “Walker’s Paradise”
Downtown Victoria is like a large outdoor mall. Walking through the streets, you can discover new shops, services, public art, and more. It’s superbly walkable, as the metric shows.
Walking, biking, and transit scores can help you with business and residential decisions. Just how walkable is your home, business, or potential business? Have a look.
