For many individuals and families, biking’s an affordable, efficient and responsible way to get around. It can be daunting at first, but here’s a manual to brush up or learn some new cycling safety skills.

Please enjoy information on current bike lanes and other city cycling information.

Don’t have a bike? There are many options to buy a bike,  rent a bike or rent an electric bike. You can also power up a u-bike you spot on the sidewalk, and you’re set!

Victoria’s bus service is popular for commuters and visitors alike.  BC Transit offers many schedules, and the App is great. They have even created NextRide, an SMS feature to get your bus’ real time arrival time.

Adults using a bus pass can take up to four kids 12 and under on the bus for free. Use your monthly pass, U-PASS, BC Bus Pass, and/or Eco Pass. You can also buy a day pass on-board for $5.

If you’re wanting a fun way to explore the city, there is also the Hop-On Hop-Off double decker bus. Perfect for visitors and fantastic for people with kids as well.

Carsharing’s an affordable and convenient alternative to private vehicle ownership. It’s more sustainable and reduces traffic, congestion and greenhouse gas emissions. There are lots of carshare vehicles downtown, in a variety of makes and models. Currently, the two Victoria providers are local co-operative Modo and Zipcar.

You prefer to drive but parking’s a challenge? Check out the information here for help, and also our parking page can save your day.  There are electric vehicle charging stations and many parking spots for people with disabilities.
