Come find out why classical radio described this work as “epic choral stupendousness”!
This operatic work tells the story of a man’s Soul on its way to final judgement, meeting Angelic and Demonic forces on the way.
Peter Butterfield conducts a chorus of more than 90 singers, accompanied by a large orchestra and the Cathedral’s mighty organ. Soloists are UK-based tenor Joshua Ellicott as Gerontius, baritone Nathaniel Watson as the Priest and Angel of the Agony, and mezzo-soprano Sarah Fryer as the Angel. All have sung these roles in international performances.
The Dream of Gerontius is well-known in the UK choral world, but rarely performed here, so don’t miss this chance to hear it!
