Who are you when you are downtown?

Are you a creative genius? A bestie? A quirky dancer? A social connector or a daydreamer who enjoys the solitude of lunchtime walks?

  • You’re invited to share your most-loved downtown stories for a chance to be featured in the “Your Place to Be” video campaign.
  • When you apply, you’ll get to choose a descriptor that best reflects who you are, when you’re downtown. We’ve compiled a list of close to 60 descriptors, and you’re also welcome to submit your own.
  • No previous video experience is required. Storytellers of all ages are welcome to participate. Any minors will need parental approval. It’s free to participate.
  • Applications close on October 4, 2018, at 10 pm PST.

The original concept, creative direction and project coordination are led by Anne-Sophie Dumetz, the lead of the marketing team for Downtown Victoria. Our videos will be shot and produced by Dave Wallace of Riptide Videos Inc. Rick Collins is our photojournalist on hire. He’ll be documenting our participants’ journey, and our campaign through words and images we’ll share in 2019. The project is also supported by several experts, including Becca Blachut (Marketing Specialist) and Gillie Easdon, our resident wordsmith.
