Victoria’s Vibrant Red Dragon: A Bold Celebration of Chinatown Culture.
The Red Dragon sculpture by Ping Tsing wraps around a lamppost in Victoria’s Chinatown, adding a vibrant and whimsical tribute to Chinese culture in the heart of the city.
The Red Dragon sculpture in Victoria’s Chinatown curls playfully around a lamppost at the corner of Government Street and Pandora Avenue. Created by artist Ping Tsing, the dragon is carved from dense foam and coated in epoxy resin to withstand the elements. Measuring around 8 feet long and 6 feet tall, it was installed in 2006 as part of a private rezoning agreement. With its bright red body and lively expression, the sculpture adds a fun and cultural touch to the historic neighborhood, celebrating the spirit and symbolism of Chinese heritage in a bold, eye-catching way.
