Intrepid Theatre Company was founded in 1986 to produce the Victoria Fringe Theatre Festival. Almost 30 years later, our original mandate continues to serve the company's artistic and strategic plans, and the development of a healthy theatre community in Victoria BC. in brief: To enhance awareness and appreciation of contemporary theatre, by encouraging, developing, and producing new and or experimental work for public performance, and the promotion of new artists and their work through theatre festival production. In 1998, Intrepid Theatre launched Uno Fest - a curated festival of one-person theatre held annually in May, now in its 19th season. n 2015, we are proudly launched OUTstages, Victoria's first queer theatre arts festival. Other festivals produced by Intrepid Theatre include the Focus on Women Arts Festival (1996-97) and Winterlab, an international festival of experimental and interdisciplinary performance. Intrepid Theatre operates two year-round theatre venues, the Metro Studio (180 seats) and the Intrepid Theatre Club (50 seats). The venues are home to our festivals, presenting activities, a New Play Reading Series, and The You Show - both monthly programs designed to launch new local work and emerging artists.
