Join us as we report on 2018, then learn about our plans for this year and beyond from our Board of Directors and our Executive Director Jeff Bray. Help us take care of business such as approval of our audited statements, the appointment of next year’s auditors, and the election of board members.
Enjoy a breakfast buffet on us. And, start the morning with an opportunity to mix and mingle with your fellow business people.
We are also releasing our First Annual Report on Downtown, which will provide quantitative measures of downtown performance. This report includes your responses collected from our Member Survey, completed in April. The data collected from both the survey and the verified information referenced in our report will provide a clear picture of our downtown.
There is no cost to attend the Annual General Meeting, but we are accepting donations for the downtown charity Women In Need Community Cooperative. This non-profit has been supporting women in Greater Victoria for over 25 years and runs five different programs that help women with communication skills, developing businesses to be self-sufficient, setting up a new home after a transition house, and referring women to services they need. You can donate directly through their website or at our Annual General Meeting.

As prescribed by our by-laws, each member of the Board is elected for a two-year period. The terms of six members of the Board come up for renewal every year. This year, the Board respectfully presents the following slate of candidates for the position of Director on the Board of DVBA. These individuals have the confidence of the Board because of their demonstrated commitment to the health and vitality of our downtown.
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Downtown Victoria Business Association members are also invited to nominate candidates to sit on the Board of Directors.
To nominate someone please complete this online form and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Remember, that both the nominee and the member nominating must be registered as a voting member.
Section 30 of our by-laws state that the Board should be “representative of the downtown business community, geographically and by category, and shall include at least one person who is a member of the Society from each of the following stakeholder groups”:
- Small (premises less than 300 square metres) independent retailers
- Large (premises more than 300 square metres) retailers
- Hoteliers operating within the Downtown precinct
- Service providers
- Restaurant/entertainment operators
- Property owners or managers
Nomination Form Submission Deadline
The completed nomination form must be submitted to email@example.com no later than 14 days prior to our Annual General Meeting. For this year, that’s June 6.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF NOMINEES
The names of each candidate nominated, along with the names of the nominators, shall be posted in the office and on our website no later than ten days prior to our Annual General Meeting. For this year, that’s June 10.
