15th Island Equipment Owners Association Truck Light Parade

December 7, 6:30 pm

Location: Yates Street/Douglas Street/ Belleville Street/ Government Street

Event: Owners decorate their trucks and heavy equipment to create this exciting annual spectacle of light.  The parade starts at Ogden Point and heads to the Western Communities via Douglas and Government Streets. The convoy is expected at Yates and Douglas at approximately 6:30-7:00 pm and it moves quickly so don’t miss it! Drop off points along the route will collect food for the Mustard Seed Food Bank.

24th Annual Lighted Ship Parade

Location: Ship Point

Event: After the Truck Light Parade passes the Inner Harbour (approximately 6:30 pm), the Lighted Ship Parade begins.  Boats of all sizes sail through the harbour, festooned with bright lights and surrounded by the backdrop of the Harbour Lights in a magical Christmas show.  Throughout the evening, spectators will be able to donate gently-used clothing, non-perishable food items, and cash to a local charity.

The Nutcracker Sweet

Location: Market Square

Event: Presented by ZarYevka Ballet and Market Square as a Christmas gift to Victoria!  This colourful 30 minute performance features wonderful Tchaikovsky music, excerpts from The Land of the Sweets, beautiful costumes, and exciting professional dancing in historic Market Square.  Enjoy the show and stay afterwards to meet and take pictures with the dancers!

Tidings of Comfort and Joy

Event: Enjoy an Advent afternoon of holiday songs, accompanied on St. Ann's Academy's 100 year-old Frères Casavant organ.  This is a relaxed event to warm your soul during a hectic season.  Sing out some carols, try your hand at vintage tree decoration, and enjoy some warm apple cider!  All ages welcome.  Admission is by donation (cash or non-perishable food item for the Giving Tree).

Hardtack Holiday Ornaments

Location: Maritime Museum of BC

Event: Join us for our all ages Christmas Craft! Hardtack – lovingly nicknamed “molar breakers” and “worm castles” by sailors destined to live on this food staple during long voyages at sea. Known to last up to 10 years –if not longer!- the Maritime Museum has decided to turn this little biscuit into tree ornaments to celebrate Christmas and our long history with the sea.  Free with admission - craft is set up in the gallery and you complete it at your leisure.

Take a tour of the fully restored 19th century courtroom, where you will learn differences between 19th century court sessions and modern court sessions, learn about the characters who laid the foundation for the city of Victoria, and see the hidden gems of this 124 year old building.
