The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Intertidal Plants and Marine Invertebrates of Estuaries on the Mid-Coast of British Columbia.
Dr. Henry Choong, Curator of Invertebrates, Dr. Erica Wheeler, Botany Collection Manager and special guests.

Last fall, Royal BC Museum natural history staff joined provincial invasive species experts on a survey of some mid-coast estuaries aboard the MV Forest Patrol. The team was tasked with searching for and documenting the spread of invasive species including Cordgrass (Spartina spp.) and the European Green crab (Carcinus maenas). Along the way, Royal BC Museum biologists took the opportunity to collect native species of estuary plants and less-commonly known invertebrates such as hydroids. Join us to hear the good news about what they found (and what they didn’t) on this five day adventure!
