Downtown Blog: November 2012

The place to find what you need... and enjoy finding it!

Have you finished your holiday shopping? Are you just starting? Or are you more of a last minute present purchaser? Either way, where else but Downtown Victoria can you find the perfect gift for those hard-to-shop-for friends and relatives, enjoy a seasonal sip and tasty treats, AND celebrate the season with music, lights and free activities all in one afternoon?

Get into the holiday spirit in downtown Victoria!

The weather has turned from summer to fall, and it’s only a month until Christmas Day. Whether you are already in the Christmas spirit, wishing you could get there, or holding out for cooler temperatures and maybe a little bit of snow (yes, we said snow!), there is really no better place to start hunting for your holiday spirit than right here in Downtown Victoria.

Parking downtown: It’s easier than you think this holiday season!

As Christmas approaches, we want you to enjoy your First Hour Free at all five City parkades EVERY Saturday from November 24 to December 22, compliments of the DVBA, no voucher required! It’s our Christmas gift to you this season – hassle free holiday parking.

The five City of Victoria parkades are located at:

- Centennial Square (645 Fisgard Street)
- Bastion Square (575 Yates Street)
- Johnson Street (750 Johnson Street)
- View Street (743 View Street)
- Greater Victoria Public Library (745 Broughton Street)

Step Right Up... It’s the 5th Annual Centennial Square Light Up!

Tomorrow is a big day in Downtown Victoria. It is the day we step on the first Downtown Ferris Wheel, turn on all of the lights in Centennial Square, and welcome the holidays with the Island Farms Santa Light Parade. Here are all of the details for tomorrow’s events... and a special parking deal that you won’t want to miss!

Lest We Forget

In honour of those who have fallen in war, there will be a Remembrance Day Ceremony on the BC Legislature front lawn on November 11 beginning at 10:30 am.  The Legislature is located at the corner of Government and Belleville Streets. For more information about the ceremony, please contact: Victoria Poppy Fund by phone (250-386-2533) or email rcl292@shaw.ca.
