Car Free YYJ will be back on Douglas Street on Sunday, June 19, 2016. After an amazing inaugural year, Car Free YYJ is looking to expand from six blocks to nine blocks in its second year! 

2016 Highlights:

  • Nine blocks from Chatham/Caledonia to Courtney
  • Four stages with a range of entertainment
  • Three licensed areas
  • More than 250 vendors
  • Bike valet
  • One extra hour to explore Car Free YYJ

2015 Car Free YYJ Highlights:

The inaugural Car Free YYJ was held on June 21, 2015 and was presented by the DVBA in partnership with the City of Victoria, BC Transit and produced by Atomique Productions. Car Free YYJ took over six blocks of Douglas Street from Herald to Fort Street from 12-6pm.

More than 235 vendors lined Douglas Street from Herald Street to Fort Street. Event components included three stages with programmed entertainment, a 7,100 sq. ft. grass park on Douglas Street, a half‐pipe in the middle of the street, a beer garden and activations created by vendors. 

Thank you for joining us for a celebration of community with more than 235 vendors and exhibitors which included:

  • Three stages with live entertainment
  • 7,100 square foot grassy park on Douglas
  • All Ages, Craft Beer Garden
  • Farmers Market
  • Kids and Family Activities
  • Half pipe
  • Food Trucks
  • Free guided tours of Downtown Victoria
  • Bike Valet
  • The Victoria Public Market anchored the north end of Car Free YYJ
  • The Bay Centre anchored the south end of Car Free YYJ
